Even before the big day, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden's wedding was expected to be intimate.

And it was, with their friend – and fellow celebrity – Reverend Run officiating over the winter-themed ceremony Saturday at Lionel Richie's Beverly Hills estate.

"Joel and Nicole have looked up to Rev. Run, so they wanted him to officiate," a wedding guest told UsMagazine.com.

Rev. Run, whose nickname dates back to his Run-D.M.C. days, is an ordained and practicing Pentecostal minister.

The newlyweds "both appreciate his family values and he is an inspiration for both," the source told the mag. "They both also respect his faith, too."

Also reportedly among the approximately 130 guests at the wedding were Madden's brothers, Benji and Josh, as well as Richie's pals, Samantha Ronson and Khloe Kardashian.

Richie, 29, and Madden, 31, reportedly had their 2-year-old daughter, Harlow, serve as flower girl. The couple also has a 15-month-old son, Sparrow.

But the most talked about guest was probably the one with four giant legs: an elephant, which was spotted on the grounds before the wedding started.
